What does everyone think about Iraq?
I have recently been noticing lots and lots of news outlets talking about the current situation in Iraq and should America step out of that nation. I know that my stance would be to not step out without knowing that the entire nation is under control because I feel that if we left earlier than that, the whole situation would be ten times worse than before. There is a mounting support for America to just cut its losses and leave. Can we as a nation really do this? We went in and ousted a terrible dictator, great, the world is a safer place because of it, but how can we leave before the job is done? Understandibly mistakes have been made by the Bush administration and the Democrats and Republicans fight over what to do constantly, but what do you guys and girls all think about the whole issue?

We're screwed if we do and we're screwed if we don't. I'd rather not get political except for the minor problem that the Iraqi Prime Minister is not liking the way we are conducting certain military operations over there, and, if he keeps up his outcries that we aren't going to stick around too much longer. Militarily, we're put in an impossible situation, I'm not talking about the moral obligation to the soldiers and US citizens to withdraw or the Iraqi citizens to stay/withdraw (mixed opinions), but due to the fact that we were not prepared for this extent of guerilla warfare and extreme period of fighting in these poor environmental conditions, our soldiers need to rejuvinate whether or not we withdraw. According to NRO briefings, as well as those from the CIA, Iraqi potential (that can be gained from American contractors and soldiers/officers) has reached its limit, they described it weird but if you graphed their quantified knowledge, they have not much more to gain from us because it's asymptotic and therefore the opportunity costs of us spending money and time training is really getting everyone no where. Leaving or not, we're in a military quandary, and with only 30,000 reserve troups out in South Korea, divisions in Afghanistan and an increasing reserve amount for Iran, now, we're pulling a Napolean and if we keep these troup divisions up, we're going to screw ourselves. A planned attack by any sovereignty especially one assuming and engaging total war is virtually impossible so the argument that fighting them over there to keep them from fighting us over here is technically void because we would have much more success over here with our SAA and SAM systems placed around the failsafe line on our coasts (it's nearly impossible, especailly with new FAA guidelines, to get any sort of airliner within the failsafe line without proper authorization), and any hostile military striked can be spotted before it occurs. In my opinion, we need to start gathering and concentrating our resources back home for rejuvination and take it one step at a time from there because we're on the verge of three to four more international crises that would definitely dwarf the Iraq situation. One primarily .. bad.. issue would be the Russian Federation communicating possibly leaving NATO to form their own, appearingly hostile, coalition with China, and this has not been given much press lately. All in all, to do what we sought out to do, we need resources that we don't have at the moment and the only we to get them is to reunite our forces, even temporarily.
