In the wake of the recent massacre at Virginia Tech University many are grieving for the loss of loved ones. Today April 16, 2007 marks the day of the most horrific school shooting.
Siren`s flooded the Virginia Tech campus this Monday morning after a deadly shooting that claimed the lives of 32 people including the gunman and 29 others wounded in the shooting rampage.
According to Fox9The gunman opened fire in a dormitory and a class room at Virginia Tech University during a two-hour span.
The university was struck today with a tragedy of monumental proportions.
According Kare11 the university, situated in Blacksburg, southwest Virginia, will be closed through Tuesday and faculty and staff members were asked to go home effective immediately after the incident.
According to the china View this was the deadliest shooting accident that took place in a campus in the U.S. history. Previously, the deadliest campus shooting in the country took place in 1966 at the University of Texas at Austin, in which 17 people, including the gunman, were killed.
After all this many questions are being raised, and many college campuses are wondering what they can do to prevent something like this from happening again.
This is a sad April day, and all my prayers are being sent out to the families, friends and college students at Virginia Tech.

According to CNN The parents of BBC reporter Alan Johnston, who was kidnapped last month in Gaza, have appealed for news of his condition after an unknown militant group said it had killed him.
According to CNN the British Broadcasting Corporation said Sunday it was "deeply concerned" about the statement by the Tawad and Jihad Brigades. According to Post Chronicle Madonna is heading back to Malawi to adopt another child where she adopted a Malawi boy, David Banda last year. It is said that she has fallen for a three-year-old orphan named Grace after seeing video footage of her playing at an African orphanage she helped fund.

According to Hindustantimes Madonna hopes to make the adoption permanent following an l8-month evaluation period, imposed by Malawi authorities. Madonna has also pledged 3 million dollars to the impoverished nation through her Raising Malawi fund and is spearheading the construction of an orphanage that will be able to care for up to 4,000 children.

According to WCCO A shooting at a Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg has left one person dead and one wounded. The shooting occurred at West Ambler Johnston Hall.

According to CNN the shooting came three days after a bomb threat Friday that forced the cancellation of classes in three buildings. The shooting occurred at West Ambler Johnston Hall, a co-ed dormitory that houses 895 students. The dormitory, one of the largest residence halls on campus, is located near the drill field and stadium.

According to WJZ NASA paid $26.6 million to family members of the astronauts who died on the space shuttle Columbia in 2003. Documents obtained by the Orlando Sentinel through a federal Freedom of Information Act request show that former FBI Director William Webster helped negotiate out-of-court settlements with the families.

According to WCCO the U.S. space agency had never before disclosed the settlement to protect the privacy of the Columbia families. Also, the Orlando Sentinel reported two astronaut families had ordered preflight insurance policies through NASA, but the agency failed to obtain the additional coverage before the accident. According to KSTP A 17-year-old stabbed her newborn baby 135 times. Nicole Marie Beecroft was charged Thursday with first-degree murder. The charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. Bail was set at $1 million on Friday afternoon. http://www.kstp.com/article/stories/S53980.shtml?cat=1

According to WCCO Beecroft gave birth to a baby girl on the floor of the laundry room in her home around 3 a.m. According to police an autopsy determined the infant had been born alive, but died from the puncture wounds in the chest area. According to the Washington Post bubbles spewed from a three-block stretch on the city's east side Thursday after American Linen accidentally released detergent into the municipal sewer lines. The combination of gravity and churning water whipped the soap into sudsy foam.

According to the Boston Herald players from the Rutgers team agreed to have a meeting with Don Imus after he called the Rutgers female basketball players �nappy-headed hos.� The team will be meeting with Imus to get to the bottom of the racial slur, and plan on asking him why he did it and the reasons behind the slur. According to the Star Tribune Joe Khalil the owner of the St. Paul Super USA store at 1198 Earl St. stepped out for a few minutes Saturday and his wife Susana Khalil, who is eight months pregnant, took over the counter while her husban stepped out. While she tended to the counter a would-be robber entered, and pretend to be armed with a gun. The female robbery suspect pretended to have a gun concealed in a paper bag, police said, and she got into a scuffle with Susana Khalil..

This resulted from an investigation into whether Hilton violated terms of her probation by driving last month with a suspended license. Nick Velasquez, a spokesman for the city attorney's office, feels they have sufficent evidence that her license was revoked and Hilton was fully aware of the suspension, according to wcco.com.

According to CNN City prosecutors said they plan to ask a judge to revoke Paris Hilton's probation in a reckless driving case, a move that could result in jail time for the hotel heiress. Hilton could face up to 90 days in jail if a judge finds her guilty, at the hearing april 17, of violating her probation.

According to kare11Kentucky's Tubby Smith will be the new coach for the University of Minnesota Men's basketball team.

According to kstp Smith led Kentucky to the 1998 national championship in his first season, but failed to make a return to the Final Four.

According to WCCO Smith will be taking over a program that finished 9-22 overall, 3-13 in the conference. The 22 losses were the most in Gopher history.

According to CBS11 an FBI agent has died following a shooting Thursday in Readington, N.J. The officer was said to be shot by a suspect wanted in connection to multiple bank robberies in the area. According to CNN a cruise ship, off the Greek island of Santorini, carrying nearly 1,600 people was evacuated after it struck rocks and began taking on water. Most of the Sea Diamond's passengers and crew were evacuated by a small ferry and other boats to Santorini's main port. According to Kare11 a non aggressive coyote walked through a propped-open front door at a downtown Chicago Quiznos sandwich shop. The door was open due to the warm weather and the coyote just wandered in and settled into the cooler on top of soda drinks. According to Kare11 the restaurant manager Bina Patel said the coyote was not aggressive and was just peeking around.

According CBS42 the coyote is now in the care of Animal Control and it took Animal Control workers just a few minutes to get the coyote out.The coyote is now being cared for at the city's shelter.
