Sam - St. Paul Senior

Thinking back, I realized I've known Sam since he was terrorizing the Sunday school at age 3. Now he's almost as old as I was then...wow. Time flies. Clearly he has aged well. He's an amazing artist, loves kids, and has grown into a well-rounded, all around great guy. I hope you have an awesome Senior year, Sam. I can't wait to see what you do next!

Nicholas - High School Senior

I've known Nicholas' dad, Nick since I was about 8 years old. He's one of my dad's music buddies, and he's spent a lot of time rocking out on his guitar in our basement. I've always thought he was pretty cool. So I felt quite honored when Nick asked me to take Nicholas' senior pictures. We had a great time exploring a back alley in an old section of my home town. I don't know Nicholas very well, but I can definitely tell he's even cooler than his dad. I hope you have a great senior year, Nicholas. It was great hanging out with you!

Tasha and Steve - July 24th, 2010

If there was ever a story of true love, this is it. Having traveled half-way around the world, jumping the international date line and finding a place to stay, Steve settled into his year abroad in New Zealand. Hoping to spend the year writing, relaxing and exploring, he had no idea a much bigger adventure was in store. He thought a job at a movie theater might be fun, and good thing he did because there among the broken seats and sticky floors his true love was waiting. Tasha swept him off his feet and together they waded through an ocean's worth of immigration paperwork and procedures, eventually finding their way back to Minnesota, and to the Little White Church in the Valley...

Campus Visit

The U of MN has some of the best tulips. I like to stop by the mall on the St. Paul campus every spring to capture a few, along with whatever else is in bloom. I got there a little late this year, but I was happy to find plenty left to work with.

Early Spring

Spring came early to MN this year, a good 2 weeks by some reports. We didn't get a flake of snow in March (typically the 2nd snowiest month), and had the 2nd warmest April on record. The lilacs, which usually bloom around Mother's Day, were wide awake by the end of April along with most of the trees. It's been amazing. These were taken in mid-April when the buds were just opening.

Here is the last bunch of photos taken as a 2nd shooter for Daniel Snow. This wedding took place at the end of February when the snow was still piled high, but the sun was strong enough to make outdoor photos pretty tolerable. And how adorable is this ring bearer?

Again, more from 2nd shooting with Daniel Snow. This was a neat wedding, and one I definitely enjoyed. One highlight was the cute little chapel where the ceremony was held. Check out the stained glass windows! The chapel is on the campus of Concordia College in St. Paul, and is a great place for a beautiful, intimate wedding.

As mentioned in the previous post, these are all shots I took as a 2nd shooter for Daniel Snow. This wedding was fun because the couple scheduled a ton of time between the wedding and the reception, which we happily filled with photos at Loring Park and the bridge over Hennepin Ave...

Last season I had the opportunity to 2nd shoot a few weddings with Daniel Snow, another photographer from the Twin Cities. I have a great time at every wedding, and getting to shoot with Daniel makes it even better. He's a great photographer, I've learned a lot from him and I always look forward to the next one. In the following posts I'll be sharing a few of the images I've captured at some of those events. The one featured here took place at my favorite venue so far...the Nicollet Island Pavilion. If you want your ceremony outside, and your reception at the same site, this is a cool place!

Cabin Fever: Perham, MN

You wouldn't think anyone would choose to go further north in winter for fun, but as for my group of friends, we're pretty hearty. It's become an annual tradition get away from the city and hole up in my friend's parents' cabin for a weekend of games, food, and a lot of fun. Despite the way it appears in these photos, this weekend was actually relatively warm. With a fresh coating of ice and snow on the trees and temperatures around 30, conditions were perfect for throwing a few snowballs, and, for Nate and me, taking a few pictures. Enjoy...
