I really want to incorporate animals into my poster.
I want to incorporate friendship as well as coexistence

I have a few ideas in my head at this point but nothing too crazy so far.

Color can make or break a piece of design or a piece of art.
It's important to know what kinds of color schemes fit with certain themes.
You don't put a red and green color scheme on a Hanukkah fund raiser poster.
Obviously that's an extreme case, but it just shows how crucial it is to get the right fit with a color scheme.
With a lot of projects, you can use a neutral color or a color scheme that doesn't have any up front meanings.
It's important to avoid cheesy color schemes otherwise it's hard to be taken seriously as a designer.
After the reading I realized it's good to keep the classic color schemes in mind. Split Complementary and Analogous color schemes can be very effective if used properly.
Basically what the reading was about was finding ways as a designer to create excitement using only (usually) 2 dimensions. This can be done with visual illusions and using subjects that viewers will find surprising. I particularly liked the Araldite billboard advertising strategy using cars attached to the billboard. It was a sweet ad right off the bat, but when they made the ad into a series it got super catchy and was impressing by the last of the three. Pushing ways to advertise and design is important in this extremely incredible corporate world we live in today. If you wanna make it places in design you have to think outside the box. Of course you can always work for a newpaper...
What really inspires me is when things are done well and professionals know what they're doing. When I see graphic design done poorly and find out how much that designer made off crap work it really makes me mad, but when I see a designer thinking conceptually, doing good work and making money it makes me want to be a designer that much more. If clients pay me to design their things and design what they basically look like, I'm going to give them something good. They trusted me with their graphic design, and if I'm going to label myself as a professional designer someday I'm going to act like a professional. This goes for more than just design though. I appreciate things that are thought out and done right.
Truly, there is a lot that inspires me, but this is what was on my mind.
I really want to learn about spot color so I can get into printing t shirts for bands and special events and what not. I also want to become more familiar with web processes and image slicing and placement to make really nice layouts and sites.
