Now it comes down to what you want do as a designer. Do you want to design things OR do you want to make a statement? "A graphic designer can still do the work he cares about and become world famous. (But probably at the expense of his bank account)" There are so many different groups and organizations out there right now. If you get your graphics down you can make the choice as to who you want to work for. You're getting hired either as a graphic designer or an artist. It's important to know what job you want.
