Do you fast forward through recorded commercials?

Do you know that that might be made illegal? It's one aspect of the new legislation governing intellectual property in front of the Congress. Upset? Well certainly anyone who reads that would vote against it, right? Mmmmm...but no one read the Patriot Act, whether they voted for or against it.

Though fast forwarding through objectionable scenes in a movie would be okay.

A new study shows that people who fast-forward through ads using devices like TiVo actually recall more ads than people who just sit through them:

The explanation is that you have to pay attention if you're fast-forwarding so you don't miss the end of the commercial break, while you don't have to if you're just passively letting the ads run their course.

Wonder if that will change any Congresscritters' minds?
