Was thinking of something equally random was thumbing through England's Dreaming when I came across the following wonderful hommage:
Following are the birthdates of the Sex Pistols. Keep them on file somewhere as people are starting to ask us strange questions.
Johnny Rotten: Jan. 31, 1956
Steve Jones: Sept. 3, 1955
Paul Cook: July 20, 1956
Sid Viscious [sic]: May 19, 1957
I hope none of you [try] to figure out what signs these geezers were born under because, take it from me, they wuz all born under a bad sign.
Bob Merlis: Inter-office memo, Warner Brothers Records (28 October 1977)

thanks for putting this in there i forgot, so yes happy belated birthday johnny. music would'nt have been as enjoyable without you .
Posted by: kelley at February 4, 2005 03:16 PMOh, those darling lads! Want some interesting reading: get John Lydon's book called "ROTTON: No Irish, No Blacks, No dogs" (if you haven't already read it).
John Richie is Sid's real name, and Glen Matlock (who also has a book, "I Was a Teenage Sex Pistol) is the original (and still living) bassist. Happen to know when his birthday is?
Nicely charged site, by the way :)
Posted by: RR at February 12, 2005 10:27 AMNot the faintest idea when Glen's birthday is. "No Irish, No Blacks, No dogs" was pretty good---though just after I read it Lydon had a gig as a sports commentator for the winter olympics and that rather spoiled the image.
Posted by: Mike at February 12, 2005 05:51 PMI still haven't made it all the way through the book...rock books are hard for me to get into for some reason. I'd love to read the Dee Dee Ramone book that I've heard is good (and scary) and also there's a Clash book I keep hearing rave reviews about.
John is such an interesting character....he's completely into himself. I saw the original lineup play in Milwaukee for their reunion tour (96, I think) and John would say stuff like "We just got back together for the money" and he kept calling Glen "Sid". He got his though when a stage diver got on stage and accidentally bumped into him and he went flying head first onto a concrete floor! That toned things down a bit :)
