"Turning the corner"

Or not exactly. Iraq is in worse shape than ever:

• Record numbers of murdered coming into the morgue.
• In addition to revenge murders of civilians by US soldiers, we have random artillery fire killing civilians.
• Fifty people kidnapped all at once. The disappeared almost always turn up as dead bodies.
• As the third deadline for naming ministers passes, the militias continue to pull people out of cars and kill them.
• See what a day in Iraq is like three years after the war began. Freedom? Democracy?
• See what's up on the economic front. Electrical power is near pre-war, embargo, levels. A lot of money has been spent (or wasted) with little gain.
• More on Haditha, location of the most public massacre of Iraqi civilians. It's not My Mai (Song My), but shows the same US military failures. Massacres of civilians in futile jestures of revenge.
