There is still time to get the 2014 Minnesota Gardening Calendar.
This year's calendar has two inserts:
The first is PLANTS FOR MINNESOTA BEES produced by Elaine Evans who is a member of the Bee Lab (www.beelab.umn.edu).
The second is a poster celebrating the release of the native little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium) cultivar Blue Heaven™ by Dr. Mary Meyer. One side of the poster contains information on USING NATIVE GRASSES IN THE LANDSCAPE. The feature article for the calendar provides additional information on this subject.
This year's calendar also has a new category of GARDENING TIPS called KIDS' CORNER. These are tips on projects you can do with the younger people in your life to teach them about gardening and nature. These tips were created by Robin Trott.
Sometimes we include photos that reach beyond our present time. The picture for January is of a dawn redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides). This is the caption.
If you are in that vicinity look them up. You will not be disappointed.
The University of Minnesota Bookstore is managing sales of the Minnesota Gardening Calendar. This link will take you to their website.
We hope you will enjoy this calendar as much as we enjoy creating it for you!
