Invitation to Comment on Library's Strategic Directions
To All Library Staff:
The Library Management Team and I have been working on a new strategic plan for the Library. Our goal in creating this plan is to help the Library remain a vital and relevant campus entity. To do this, we need to continue and possibly enhance some current activities and at the same time move in new directions. We understand that moving to new directions may require that some present activities would need to be scaled back or eliminated. At this point, no program, activity or service has been changed or curtailed. We expect our planning process to identify which new directions to follow and current activities to continue. This will in turn guide the development of an appropriate staff organization.
Please be aware that the draft strategic directions document is a rough draft and in no way is it complete. We have listed a few projects just to give you some examples. We fully expect that much of this document could change based on your response. The LMT thought that it would be more productive to have a rough draft to focus staff discussion and comment. We are now at a point when we would like your input and comment. Everything is fair game. We will be receiving your comments, questions, additions, deletions or modifications via The LIBRARY MEMO blog. We will post everyone’s input so you can see each other’s input. We will not post anonymous input.
It is our intention to receive comments via The LIBRARY MEMO blog through July 3, 2008. We will revise the strategic directions document based on this input. Our next step will be to have further discussion via work team and all staff meetings. We will use these meetings to help us reach a consensus. It is our hope and intention to have a new strategic plan by the end of this summer and to be able to post some new position(s).
During the fall semester, we plan to administer the LIBQual+ survey to students, staff and faculty to benchmark where we are. We will possibly conduct some follow up focus groups to help clarify responses to the survey. We will do a follow up LIBQual+ survey to assess the impact of any changes that we implement.
I want to thank you all in advance for help with this project.
Thanks,
Bill Sozansky
