The Library Management Team approved the Library's new mission statement on May 1, 2007. Our new mission statement is: The UMD Library’s mission is to promote learning and research by providing information resources and services, up to date technologies, and knowledgeable staff in a welcoming environment.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the discussion about revising the mission statement and all who contributed comments and suggestions.
The Administration Team and Pat Maus, NEMHC, met this morning for our bi-monthly meeting. We talked about the Library’s mission statement. We looked at the comments that were received and incorporated them into a revised statement. Here is our revised mission statement.
“The library’s mission is to promote learning and enable research by providing access to information, technology and knowledgeable staff in a welcoming environment.�

The LMT met on Thursday, March 29 to revise the Library's mission statement. A draft of the revised mission statement and a copy of our current mission statement are included below.

The Library’s mission is to provide access to information resources, services, and facilities that support the learning, teaching, and research goals of the University community.
