New Ramseyer Collection display

There's a new display on the fourth floor from the Ramseyer-Northern Bible Society Museum Collection. It is called Languages of the Americas and features examples of 30 different languages (ranging from Aztec to Zapoteco: Isthmus) of the peoples of North, Central, and South America.

The display is scheduled to run through June 27, 2008.

Collections page updated

The library website's Collections page is updated, with eight
collections added. A major addition are search boxes for most of the
collections that allow you to search those collections separately within
the catalog. This could be done with the Advanced Search function of the
catalog, but many will find the special search boxes convenient.

You can try them by following the links from the new Collections page:

Instant Messaging with Librarians

Students, faculty and staff are invited to instantly communicate with a librarian at the UMD Library Reference Desk via our new Instant Messaging (IM) Plugoo widget

(see http://www.d.umn.edu/lib/askus/index.htm)

during hours that the desk is open. The Library monitored six Instant Messaging networks for the past 18 months (and will continue to do so), but now people are not required to be a member of an IM network. No logins, just type your questions in the chat window in the upper right corner of the page. Library assistance is now just a few keystrokes away!

Thanks!!!
