This article is about the opening of the movie Hunger Games. This movie was adapted from a popular book with the same title. Screenwriter and director Gary Ross was faced with the challenge of adapting the book to the screen without changing the storyline dramatically. His goal was to preserve certain aspects of the novel to keep fans of the book pleased. Many if not most of the people going to see the movie have read the book and will likely be disappointed if the movie strays too far from the book.
