Last night's episode of Glee ("Thriller") focused on the issue of popularity in high school, and how the extracurriculars that you are involved in determine how you are viewed. For those who do not watch the show, there are a few cheerleaders in Glee club (Santana, Quinn, and Brittany), and a few football players in Glee club (Finn, Puck, and Artie). The cheerleaders are forced to decide between cheerleading and glee club, and the football players are told that if they do not perform with the glee club during halftime, they will be kicked off of the team. There's a lot of issues, with both genders, deciding between glee, something that they genuinely enjoy doing, or football/cheerleading, something that they, generally, chose to do for their image. I thought it tied in well with what we have been talking about recently pertaining to clothing, clubs/sports, etc and how they are associated with gender.
