A U.S. citizen will be put on trial in North Korea for "committing crimes" and trying to bring down the country's regime, according to North Korea's official news agency, as reported by NPR.

Kenneth Bae, 44, has been imprisoned since November. He was with five other tourists when a hard disk was found in their belongings. He was entering Rason, a city near North Korea's border with China and Russia, according to Aljazeera.

Friends of Bae say he is a Christian missionary who came from China to North Korea to feed orphans, according to the AP, as reported by NPR.
