The MN DFL Region 4 is looking for interns for the current election cycle. Help to get DFL-endorsed candidates elected to office this fall!
They are looking for interns to help out 12-15 hours a week, and also volunteers who can come in on an as-needed basis. They will work with you to receive college credit.

We are looking for current U.S. and International students interested in expanding their horizons through helping a new Fall 2010 international student. To become a buddy mentor, complete an application and attend all training sessions offered this summer (July 23rd or July 30th and August 20th or August 23rd).

The Northrup Summer Concert Series will be hosting Innocent tonight at 7 pm on the Northrup Plaza.
Long before Bongo Flava - there was Innocent and he is still at it. A Rasta man who has managed to produce music balancing both reggae and his Tanzanian roots, Innocent has produced over 5 albums.

Volunteers are needed on August 11 for a citywide emergency drill.
Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) is participating, along with police, fire, emergency medical services, and other community agencies, in a citywide drill regarding emergency procedures to be held in Minneapolis on August 11, 2010 from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. They need volunteers to fill the roles of parents and students. Volunteers do not have to be residents of Minneapolis, nor do they have to be employees of MPS, although MPS employees are encouraged to volunteer.
Specific Needs
High school students
We need a significant number of 16 to 19 year old volunteers to play the roles of high school students. Younger volunteers will not be accepted; high school graduates will be. They need to be available all day on August 11. We need a great many young people; if you are in touch with scouting, theater, church or other community groups that involve a number of older teenagers, you may share this request with them.
Parents
We need a significant number of people to play the roles of parents of high school students. Teenagers are encouraged to come with their parents to help with the realty of the training.

The Minnesota Sinfonia will be performing at noon today on Northrup Plaza.
The Minnesota Sinfonia was formed in the fall of 1989, as a professional, community-based chamber orchestra. When the Minnesota Sinfonia was created, the intent was to establish a top quality orchestra that would gear the majority of its services to the families and children of the state of Minnesota.

The Twin Cities Jazz Festival is one of the largest free civic events in the upper midwest, attracting thousands of people to experience the joy of jazz. Events of the festival are held in the downtown area of St. Paul, Minnesota, including Mears Park located in the heart of St. Paul's historic Lowertown.

Born and raised in the Twin Cities to NuyoRican parents, emcee, singer, and songwriter Maria Isa is recognized for her dedication towards celebrating her cultural diversity through music and political activism. In 1992 she started her performing arts education at El Arco Iris Center for Arts, forming Raices in 2002 with other advanced students to conserve their ancestral Puerto Rican folklore music.

Lehto and Wright have a sound that is a unique blend of traditional and modern styles. By taking cues from the Irish, English and American folk traditions and interpreting them with contemporary guitar-based arrangements, Lehto and Wright have taken fresh approach to the world of folk and folk rock. Lehto and Wright perform either as a duo or, with the addition of Matt Jacobs on drums and percussion, a Celtic rock trio.

Come out and watch the Daddy Squeeze Band at noon today on the plaza in front of Northrup!
The Daddy Squeeze Band is a fun and adventuresome group that believes having a good time makes great music even better. They can swing the standards, generate Latin and rock grooves, and surprise their audience with slightly twisted covers of forgotten pop tunes.
