South Africa: Exploring Cross-Cultural Leadership Contexts of the AIDS Pandemic
Prerequisites: 1000 & 3000-level Leadership Minor courses completed by May 2011

Apply what you have learned in the first and second Leadership Minor courses in another country! With picturesque Cape Town, South Africa and the dynamic township community of Guguletu as your background, explore leadership through the lens of a different culture. Specifically, the course will examine the complex context of South Africa and how current leaders, community members, and others are trying to make positive change. Students will spend time Cape Town and then explore the township community of Guguletu, including home-stays with local residents.

Excursions will include visits to Robben Island, the wine county, Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point, and a safari. Aaron Asmundson leads this seminar and is a leadership minor instructor. For more information on the program and how to apply, contact Aaron directly at asmun001@umn.edu, or 612-626-0340.
