Hmong Career Workshop Series- Starting February 4th

The Hmong Career Workshop Series is happening again this year and is right around the corner. The workshops take place on the Fridays of February 4th, 11th, and 18th from 1-2:30p.m. in Room 518/520 of the STSS Building on the East Bank. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. To do so, register here. The series is free and open to U of M students in all majors and years in school.

Attending this three part workshop series to learn the skills needed for finding part-time jobs, internships or full-time positions related to your major. A small group format will allow you to ask questions and discuss issues that may be unique to you as a Hmong student.

Session 1: Effective Interviewing (February 4)
Do job interviews make you nervous? Do you wonder how cultural differences impact job interviews? This session will include several activities and small group discussions that will help you feel better prepared for future job interviews.

Session 2: Hmong Professional Panel (February 11)
Hear from a panel of Hmong University of Minnesota Alumni and learn how they found their jobs after graduation. They will also talk about the transition into the professional world and share their advice for current students.

Session 3: Resume Writing and Finding Jobs/Internships (February 18)
Whether you are a resume beginner or a resume expert, this session has something for you! We will break students into groups by experience level and give you tips for making a strong resume. We will also spend time teaching you tools and tricks for finding jobs or internships in your field.
