The school semester is drawing nearer as more events and opportunities are flooding my inbox. Check out some of these neat things to do, see and get involved in the first week of August.

Job Opportunities

  • Sabe espaƱol? Mount Olivet Day Services will be needing a very part-time Spanish teaching, on morning per week, starting in mid-September. Classes are 20 minutes in length with 7 to 12 two-four year old students in each. The teacher will be paid $3.50 per child, per class.   • Looking for an on-campus job? Become a Undergrad Program Assistant for CLA 1001. Job description found at
  • The Minnesota Daily is hiring for Fall positions. Applications are now open and will be open until August 15th. Students interested in news, sports, opinion and arts & entertainment writing, photography, video, copy editing, and design as well as non- journalism majors are encouraged to apply.   • The Women's Center has begun organizing for the fall 2011 Appleby Hall Art Gallery showcase. If you or someone you know is an artist and a U of MN student or alumni, and are looking for a great space to display a piece or two of artwork, please contact
  • Do you identify as male and need to know what your suit size is? Cost-co is hosting a Men's Custom Suiting Event at the Costco in St. Louis Park August 5th - 14th. Search "menssuits" on to schedule your appointment or just walk-in.

    Event: McNair Scholars - 19th Annual Poster Presentation

  • On Tuesday, August 2nd from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m, in the Mississippi Room (third floor) in Coffman Memorial Union, McNair Scholar student's will present their research posters.
