Student Leadership

Interested in becoming a Positive Leader? The Minnesota AIDS Project is recruiting applicants for the 2011-2012 Positive Leaders programming year. Positive Leaders is a policy and advocacy project intended to develop and engage individuals living with HIV to be leaders in HIV advocacy. Attend an information session on Tuesday, August 23 at the Minnesota AIDS Project (directions) from Noon till 1:00 pm to learn more about the Positive Leaders Program. No experience is necessary to enjoy a fun camping outing to Camp Menogyn in the Boundary Waters for Wilderness Week from August 18th to the 22nd. Wilderness Week is a program for all international and U.S. students who would like to experience camping, canoeing, campfires and hiking in the woods of Minnesota. Make new friends, connect with UMN staff, increase your confidence, and gain outdoor skills in a safe and fun environment. The cost is $395 which includes meals at camp, lodging, transportation, instruction and group equipment. Internship Opportunities

Planned Parenthood is looking for a Marketing Coordinator Intern to help with market research, social media, analysis of marketing strategy, blogging, field research, and more. For more information or to apply, contact volunteers@ppmns.org or call the Planned Parenthood Office at 612-821-6113.

Project Footsteps is looking for a team of 10-15 interns to work in areas such as Human Resource, Community Relations, Program Relations, Program Outreach, Program Operations, and Program Assistant for ImGettingBullied. Interns will work independently and through collaborative work for approximately 10 to 15 hours a week. Volunteering and Arts & Crafts

Free Arts Minnesota is seeking volunteers to work as a part of its weekly mentor program, which strives to bring positive and artistic expression to at-risk kids in the Twin Cities. The weekly mentor program is about a 2 hour a week commitment for 32 weeks, September-May, with opportunities during the day, evening and weekend. Free Arts Minnesota works with volunteers to find what works best for their schedule and interests and encourage people of all backgrounds to share many forms of art with the children we serve. Artists in Interact Visual Arts are currently building Giant Puppets and masks and costumes for the upcoming Fall Uniquiox festival and are seeking assistance from volunteers from 10 am - 3:30 pm today, Monday August 15th, through this Friday. Any and all, from 'no experience' to 'highly artistic' are encouraged to join the fun - from 'no experience' to 'highly artistic.'
