Volunteer Opportunities Supporting Youth
Junior Achievement: Junior Achievement's mission is to inspire and prepare K-12 students for success in the global economy. Help by presenting financial literacy curricula in structured school settings across the Twin Cities. All training and materials are provided to ensure your success. This is a fun and rewarding experience to connect with students in your local community.
Holiday Season Meals for Homeless Youth
Volunteer to prepare dinner at Lutheran Social Service's Safe House, a thirty day emergency shelter in St Paul for homeless youth ages 16-20. The shelter provides an environment where homeless youth can begin the road to healthy, productive lives. Prepare meals off-site and drop off 7:30pm Monday-Friday and 6:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Volunteer Opportunities Tutoring
Basis Skills Tutor - Columbia Heights: Help ABE learners with reading, writing, English and/or math skills at Metro North Adult Basic Education's study lab in Columbia Heights. Work with one learner at a time under the direction of a staff member. Must be friendly, proactive and celebrate successes with learners. Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 9 am - 12 pm.
GED Tutor: The FATHER (Fostering Actions To Help Earnings and Responsibility) Project is a program of Goodwill/Easter Seals. Goodwill/Easter Seals is looking for volunteers to work individually with program participants in Minneapolis to help them prepare to take the General Educational Development (GED) exam.
One Time/Short Term Volunteer Opportunities
Group Volunteer Opportunities: Bridging has a variety of options in Bloomington and Roseville for groups of 10 - 25 who are looking for a volunteer opportunity. Many group and short term volunteers are needed to serve their growing population of families in need. Projects can be tailored to a group but will revolve around warehouse work such as unloading and sorting donations.
Holiday Season Donation Volunteer: Meals on Wheels of Minneapolis needs volunteers to process end of the year donations. 50% of their income comes from approximately 3200 donations in the last quarter of the year. They need a good volunteer to help process these donations including opening mail, updating a database, and creating thank you letters. M-F, 8am-4pm.
Other Volunteer Opportunities:
Wii Volunteer: Do you love playing the Wii? You are in luck. A woman at Hammer Residences, Inc. in New Hope that also loves playing the Wii would like a volunteer that would enjoy playing with her.
Business Development Volunteer/Intern: As a student or recent graduate with a passion for entrepreneurism volunteer/intern with WomenVenture's Business Development department in St Paul. Projects that include: the formatting, writing and design of new curriculum, research, create surveys, write scripts for instructors, PowerPoint, and graphic design. Must have business background and commit to 1 semester.
Evening Shelter Aide: Help provide hospitality and hope to those most in need by volunteering in the Our Saviour's Housing Emergency Shelter in Minneapolis. They open their doors to 40 homeless adults every night of the year. Assist with a variety of tasks to keep the shelter comfortable and running smoothly. Shifts are every week or every other week from 6-9 p.m..
Companion Animal Visitor
Bring your dog(s)or cat(s) to Kaposia, Inc.'s center in Roseville for visiting and companionship with senior individuals. Flexible weekday morning or early afternoon times. Visits typically last less than an hour, allowing an opportunity to make a positive impact with minimal time.
