American University in Cairo Presidential Scholars Program
This is a one year fellowship for recent graduates that combines work experience at an international university with the opportunity to learn Arabic and experience life in Cairo--the bustling, vibrant center of Middle Eastern culture. Scholars are placed in offices throughout the University's administration and in the Desert Development Center, a non-profit research and training center that aims to holistically develop sustainable livelihoods for desert communities. No prior experience in related fields is necessary and no prior knowledge of Arabic is required. Those with little or no experience in the Middle East are especially encouraged to apply. The application deadline is January 31, 2012. More information can be found at the program's website.
