Button Up student group is currently looking for a new president for the 2012-13 school year!
Button Up's goal is to promote conversations on campus. Each year, members hand out several thousand buttons. If you happens to be wearing one, it means that it's okay if someone wants to start a conversation with you - about anything.
The group also hosts events where a member will volunteer to sit at a table with a sign that says "Free Conversations." Anyone can sit down and talk at the table, choosing a conversation topic from the provided "menu."
The president's responsibilities would include:
- ordering buttons
- planning events
- generating publicity
- delegating tasks to the group's officers.
The president will be leading the development of new, creative ideas for the group to accomplish next school year. Andy Schultz, the current president says, "this position has been a great way to serve the campus community while developing my leadership skills."
Any undergraduate or graduate students will be considered. Here is the application.Apply by Monday, May 7. Someone will be selected by Monday, May 14.
For more information, send a message on Facebook, or email Andy (current president) at schu1930@umn.edu
