Volunteer Opportunities Requiring Technical Skills

Bundles of Love Charity a New Brighton organization that provides baby clothing and bedding for sick and needy babies, is looking for a team of 2 - 3 volunteers to manage their website. Ideally candidates will have experience with Drupal on Linux; experience with Joomla or Wordpress or a desire to learn Drupal on Linux would also be acceptable.

Video Recording Volunteer
Work closely with CornerHouse's Training Assistant and the Volunteer Coordinator to video record training role plays in Minneapolis. Minimum 1 year commitment, 5 hours - two days a month (Thursday afternoon & Friday morning) with extra training in the beginning. Must be experienced in technologies including computers, taping technology and DVD burning technology.

Physically Active Volunteer Opportunities

Wildlife Nursery Volunteer
Feed and help care for infant songbirds, waterfowl, and mammals. The animals are brought to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota in Roseville by people who have found them injured or abandoned. Choose either the mammal or the waterfowl nursery and volunteer 3-5 hours per week (1 shift). Hands-on training provided first two shifts.

Help Military Veterans with Therapeutic Horseback Riding
Majestic Hills Ranch Foundation provides equine assisted activities and therapies to military veterans that have been wounded in service. They need volunteers that are comfortable around horses that would like to assist these brave men and women as they work on their rehabilitation in Lakeville.

Trail Watch
Midtown Greenway Coalition volunteers on bikes act as extra eyes and ears for law enforcement by patrolling the Midtown Greenway corridor nightly. Rides last for two hours and volunteers report anything suspicious or unsafe along the Greenway or Hiawatha LRT bike trails in Minneapolis.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

Carousel Operator
Volunteers at Cafesjians Carousel in St Paul work on and around the carousel. They operate the machine, greet & assist visitors, sell tickets & gifts, and share historic carousel information. Volunteers ensure a fun and safe time for all. Shifts during the week and weekends.

Office/Clerical Scanning
Ramsey County Veterans Services in St Paul is converting from hard copy file system to on-line data system. Help organize, prioritize, review and scan paper documents from existing files into the new system. Knowledge of Microsoft Office helpful but not required. Must be comfortable using computer.

Event Specialist Assistant
The Center for Changing Lives in Minneapolis is a place for people to come together to build relationships and create a community. The volunteer will be the first point of contact for visitors and will help facilitate access to the facility and LSS services by managing the reservation process and handling all walk-in tours & CFCL questions.

Fund Development Committee Member
The Fund Development committee of Sober Corps focuses on strengthening financial support from individual donors, corporations and foundations. Activities include researching, grant writing and cultivating contacts. Sober Corps is based in Minneapolis.
