Tutoring and Mentoring Volunteer Opportunities:
Computer/Homework Helper
Do you enjoy teaching and working with children? Volunteer with Aeon in their community and resource rooms located in apartments in Minneapolis for low-income families. Volunteers assist children and adults with computers and homework in the community rooms. Flexible schedule. Minimum commitment is 1 1/2 hour shift a week.
Mentor Training
Work with the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches/Community Justice to make a difference in the life of male or female offender at the Hennepin County Adult Correctional Facility. Help ex-offenders successfully transition back into society, so they do not re-offend. Free training on Saturday from 8:45 a.m.-2:00p.m. in Plymouth. Lunch provided.
Physically Active Volunteer Opportunities:
Foster Home Trainer
Volunteer Foster Homes are needed to help raise and train a service dog for people with physical disabilities. Volunteers will agree to take a puppy at 7-9 weeks old into their home and raise and train it for 2 ½ years with the support of Helping Paws of Minnesota staff located in Hopkins.
Recreational Assistant
Prairie Adult Care in Eden Prairie is a licensed adult day center providing adults with special needs an opportunity to engage in social recreation, and to receive health care in a community setting. Assistants help staff facilitate recreational games, music, art, gardening, field trips, conversation groups, and/or meal service. Weekly or monthly shifts.
Therapeutic Rider Volunteer
River Valley Riders provide therapeutic horseback riding opportunities for people with special needs. At the riding sessions, the main jobs are horse leader and side walker. You don't need horse experience to volunteer -- just a willingness to learn. Weekdays and evenings, 1-3 hours per week in Afton.

Resident Escort
Volunteer at Presbyterian Homes & Services: Lake Minnetonka Shores in Spring Park to escort residents to various activities and then remain with them until activity is over and take them back to their rooms.
Muckruckus MS Twin Cities
Come get dirty at Muckruckus MS TwinCities on August 11 in Dresser WI! The event is an obstacle course through mud at Trollhaugen Ski Resort. This is a fundraiser for multiple sclerosis research and programming for people with MS. There will be thousands of runners and over 350 volunteers are needed. Help with food service, parking, set-up and tear-down, and more.
Shop Help
The Minnesota Streetcar Museum in Minneapolis needs folks who are willing to work in their shop repairing and restoring historic streetcars. They can use: Metal workers, Wood workers, Electricians, Engineers-mechanical, electrical, civil, etc. They can also use unskilled folks in the shop. If you're not familiar with our streetcars, we'll teach you.
Hospice Music Therapist
Optage Hospice of Roseville provides care that focuses on comfort, quality and support for individuals with life-limiting illness, their families and caregivers. Volunteers can serve at any of their locations. Many patients enjoy hymns or classic rock and enjoy a variety of instruments, especially the piano. Volunteers supplement staff service - to do the little "extras".
Ambassador
Open Your Heart in St Paul gives grants to organizations serving people experiencing hunger and homelessness. Grants are used for support services, capital improvements, educational resources for children, and efforts to end hunger and homelessness. They need volunteers for their Speakers Bureau to represent them in a friendly and professional manner at events.
