Physically Active Volunteer Opportunities:

Open Farms Volunteer:
Join the effort to keep Open Arms of Minnesota three-acre organic garden in Belle Plaine growing strong. Open Farms produces 30,000 pounds of delicious veggies each year to use in their client's meals, and need your help planting, weeding and harvesting the bounty. Learn about locally and sustainably produced agriculture -- up close and in the dirt!

House Cleaning:
Opportunity Partners, Inc. of Minnetonka is looking for a group of motivated cleaners! They need deep cleaning done at one of their residential houses. Bathrooms with extra attention paid to the showers, kitchens, especially the stoves, cupboards, and drawers, and bedrooms and living spaces, dusting and moving furniture in order to vacuum.


Opportunities Supporting Youth:

Literacy Tutor:
Volunteer through Minnesota Reading Corps (a division of AmeriCorps) at the American Indian / World Cultures Magnet School in east St. Paul. There are open slots to read with children during the school day - mornings and afternoons. Must commit to at least 1 hour per week for a minimum of 3 months.

Usher (8+):
User at Stages Theatre Company in Hopkins and see great youth theatre for free! Duties include: Taking tickets, Handing out programs, Showing audience members to their seats, and Picking up programs after the performance. Performances are Wednesday through Sunday during daytime and evening.

Computer Tech Volunteer Opportunities:

Community Tech Center Assistant:
Do you have knowledge of the hiring process or a Human Resource background? Volunteer as a CTC Assistant and assist individuals with resumes, cover letters, job search, applications, and basic computer tasks. This opportunity is in Minneapolis and requires a 3 hour/week commitment. They specifically need help on weekday morning.

Technology Center Volunteer:

Supervise, teach, and to promote services that improve computer literacy for People Serving People's guests in Minneapolis, focusing on employment and housing searches. Assist with orientation, promoting learning and basic computer use, solving problems, enforcing rules and policies, and maintaining documentation and record-keeping.

Other Volunteer Opportunities:

Reduce Hunger in Coon Rapids:
Volunteer serving teams of 12-15 people are needed at Salvation Army Harvest Corps in Coon Rapids. Serve one time or ongoing basis. Training is provided. Site Coordinators assist teams to plan the menu to meet USDA guidelines. Teams typically purchase, prepare, serve, and clean up at Loaves & Fishes. Please note that purchasing food is not a requirement.

Public Affairs Committee:

The Minnesota Association for Volunteer Administration (MAVA) in Maplewood is seeking Public Affairs Committee Volunteers. There are three areas of need. Research and gather information on trends in volunteer legislation at the state level, help the Public Affairs Committee develop marketing pieces for distribution, or assist in compiling and analyzing MAVA data.

Pontoon Driver:
Presbyterian Homes & Services, Lake Minnetonka Shores, needs a volunteer to drive their residents (Seniors and daycare children) on a pontoon on Lake Minnetonka. Rides usually last 2 - 2 1/2 hrs. total volunteer time. Schedule will be once a week with a specific group of residents. Must Pass a Background Check and the DNR Certification.

Administrative Support:

Sober Corps is looking for organized, recovery-supportive persons to help with administrative functions in Minneapolis: File paperwork; maintain and update database(s); mailings; maintain copies of all forms and documents; follow up on inquiries; keep things clean and organized. Requires a 3-hour shift at least once every 2 weeks or more frequently.
