Update: Offshore Drilling

The New York Times writes,

President Bush last week demanded that Congress end a federal ban on offshore drilling and open a portion of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for oil exploration. “If Congressional leaders leave for the Fourth of July recess without taking action, they will need to explain why $4-a-gallon gasoline is not enough incentive for them to act,” he said.
Perhaps one of the best responses comes from Nancy Pelosi:
“The president demanded that Congress act in a series of policies,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. “They’re really more of his warmed-over stew in terms of his energy policy. He suggested a few things that will do nothing to lower the price at the pump.” Ms. Pelosi continued: “They always keep making that plea for drilling in the Arctic refuge and drilling off sensitive areas of our coasts. It’s a scam. We got you up to $4 a gallon and we’re going to do more of the same, more of the same.”
I love her.
