Provide academic advising, guidance and support services to SSS/TRIO program participants. Assist in identifying and selecting eligible program participants. Conduct individualized needs assessments. Develop individualized academic success plans with participants. Provide guidance for students transferring to a four year college. Explain degree programs and articulation agreements. Monitor student academic progress. Develop action plans for students who are struggling academically. Assist participants with the 4-year transfer process. Coordinate tours to metro-area baccalaureate colleges and universities. Assist participants with applying for financial aid and scholarships. Coordinate Peer Advising Mentorship program. Develop and conduct financial literacy, career, and scholarship and other related workshops. Assist participants with creating their academic degree and career plans. Work effectively with the SSS/TRIO team to meet the goals and objectives as stated in the approved grant proposal. Communicate with North Hennepin faculty and staff, participating in program development, serving on college committees, organizing cultural events for program participants, assisting with program evaluation, and completing other assignments as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Organizational Management, Liberal Arts or related degree area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Experience working with students who are TRIO eligible, or from diverse ethnic backgrounds, or non-traditional aged students, Demonstrated understanding of student development needs, Demonstrated understanding of the mission of TRIO programs.
-Strong public relations, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
-Demonstrated self-starter with strong organizational and leadership skills.
-Proficient and efficient at using computer technology including internet and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a higher education setting providing academic advising, or counseling in a TRIO program or similar program.
-Experience creating and developing career and degree plans
-Experience developing mentorship programs
-Experience creating academic, career or financial literacy workshops
-Experience assisting students with career exploration and the financial aid process.
- Experience in student services or related area.
