All seven CSPP doctoral students in counseling psychology who applied for pre-doctoral internships where placed in APA accredited internships for 2013-14. Six of the internships are in university counseling centers and one in an adolescent chemical dependency treatment program. Tom Skovholt (professor, educational psychology) has been named the recipient of the 2010 Lifetime Contributions to Education and Training in Counseling Psychology Award by the Council of Counseling Psychology Training Programs (CCPTP). CCPTP comprises all American Psychological Association accredited programs in Counseling Psychology. In the award letter, the awards committee commended Tom on his "exemplary service to his program (including his ten years as program coordinator), his professional service, and his commitment to training, teaching and mentoring of graduate students." Tom will receive his award at the Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association this August, 2010.
Sandra Sanger (Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology, Educational Psychology PhD Candidate) has been selected to be the recipient of The Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) 2010 Student Research Award. The award is given for her doctoral dissertation research titled: "Supervisor Interventions and Reactions following an Attempted or Completed Suicide by a Supervisee's Client." The award letter noted: "There were a number of excellent candidates, however, your research contributions to training were clearly outstanding." Sandra will receive her award at the Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association this August 2010. Dan Hess is being selected as a co-winner of the Graduate Student Research Award for 2009. This award has become very competitive. Dan Hess should be commended for his hard work and dedication to internationalizing counseling psychology. Dan Hess will be awarded a plaque at the APA convention in Toronto during the International Section business meeting.

Congratulations to CSPP Program Affiliate, Professor Eli Coleman (Medical School). Dr. Coleman was elected president of the International Academy of Sex Research IASR. Dr. Coleman is Director of Program in Human Sexuality, has an endowed chair in sexual health, and has held leadership roles with the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, and the World Association for Sexual Health.
