Extension computers are currently installed with the Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional software which allows you to create PDF files. This software is outdated and some advanced features do not work with new versions of Microsoft Office. Extension IT will be phasing out Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional by no longer including it on new or reimaged computers. For simple PDF creation, the new and reimaged computers will include an application from Microsoft which allows Office 2007 documents to be saved as PDFs.
You may continue to use the existing Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional software unless you are using advanced features (eg. interactive forms) or encounter problems creating PDF files. If you use advanced PDF features, the new Microsoft application will not work for you. You may purchase Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 for $25 until July 1, 2009. After July 1, the cost will increase to $54. The University's UTools Web site provides a link to purchase Adobe Acrobat software.
