At this year's National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Science Conference (NEAFCS) held in September, Extension educators in Family Development and Youth Development won several national and regional awards and honors.
National award recipients: Carol Ann Burtness, Extension food science educator, received the Continued Excellence award; and Kimberly Asche, Extension 4-H Youth Development educator, received the Distinguished Service award.
Kathleen Olson, Extension educator in family relations, was reelected secretary to the NEAFCS National Board.
Shirley Anderson-Porisch, Extension educator in family resource management, received the Written Press Release award for the third central region for her press release, "Avoid the Instant Tax Loan."
The Educational Technology award for the third central region was given to Extension Health and Nutrition Educators Jill May, Sara Van Offelen, Shelley Sherman and Felisha Rhodes, for their program, "Understanding Underserved Audiences: Implications for Improving Programs for African American, Caucasian, Latino and Somali Audiences."
