Extension's mission statement is to connect University resources with community needs and we do this by offering research/scholarship-based programs that have measureable outcomes and impact for the residents of Minnesota. In difficult financial times, it can seem that organizations are more focused on money than mission. While grants are vital to our financial future, grants are not simply about the funding. Grants provide many research/scholarship opportunities for Extension's programs and faculty. Programs can benefit from the accountability reports that funders require, because it helps to demonstrate the impact of our work. Next time you see a request for proposals (RFP,) don't think about money without thinking about scholarship potential as well.
