Due to the current state and University budget situation, Extension applied for a Voluntary Early Retirement Authority (VERA) which applies to Extension faculty and staff with federal benefits. We were recently notified that our VERA request has been approved.
If you are an employee with federal benefits meeting the eligibility requirement for VERA, you will be individually notified via an email packet of information on or around August 13. The timeline for submitting your intent to retire under this benefit is September 1 through December 23, 2010. There are limited slots available, and submissions will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
You may request an estimated VERA benefit statement from Kathy Murphy, Extension Human Resources, email@example.com. After making the request, you will receive an email that will include a list of information you need to provide in order to receive the estimate.
Please note that if you are an employee with federal benefits currently eligible for immediate retirement, or if you will become eligible for immediate retirement during the VERA window, you already have the option to retire at any time. You do not need to consider VERA and you will not receive the VERA email.
