When the roof of the Metrodome collapsed on Sunday morning, the Vikings-Giants game moved from Minneapolis to Detroit. Extension Community Economics Educator, David Nelson, and Extension Analyst, Brigid Tuck, had earlier written a research report that calculated the economic impact of a previous game's move. David and Brigid agreed to be promoted in an Expert Alert the next day to let media know the University had people who could give unbiased insight to the news.
That afternoon, David and Brigid were interviewed by a host of major metro reporters. Within hours, stories appeared on Minnesota Public Radio, FOX-9, and in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, just to name a few.
Extension coordinates Expert Alerts with the News Service. If you think you could be promoted to the media as an expert on a timely topic, contact Catherine Dehdashti.
