I am pleased to announce that Renee Pardello has accepted a new role in Extension as assistant dean. Renee will be reporting to senior associate dean Dick Senese and will be coordinating Extension's international programs and the Extension promotion systems. She will begin her new position on March 1.
Renee has been involved in international projects for more than ten years, working at the village to the country-wide level. She has also served in several leadership roles in Extension since 2000, as a program leader and interim associate dean for natural resources and most recently as assistant dean in the Extension Center for Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences.
Promotion has been identified as a priority in the Extension Strategic Plan. In addition, Extension has continued to increase efforts in international programs and Renee will coordinate these activities as well as lead grant-writing efforts to obtain funding for international programming.
Current international activities include:
- Extension is a participant in and is providing funding for the new UM multidisciplinary global partnership program in Morocco.
- Extension is a participant in the UM Foundation-led FAO and the World Food Program.
- Extension is providing leadership for the establishment of extension programs in Tanzania and Kisii, Kenya.
Please join me in welcoming Renee to this new role.
