The Extension Food Safety program area joined the Extension Center for Family Development on July 1. The program area had previously been in the Extension Center for Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences. By working more closely with family development programs in the health and nutrition program area, we hope to better leverage and build on the team's work in food preservation, consumer food safety and more.
The program area is led by Katherine Waters, Extension program leader in food systems, and currently has four Extension food science educators: Deb Botzek-Linn, Kathy Brandt, Suzanne Driessen and Glenyce Peterson-Vangsness. Connie Schwartau serves as the program coordinator.
