Each year the Dean's Leadership Council chooses several Extension staff for the chance to participate in Leadership for the 21st Century (Lead21) and National Extension Leadership Development (NELD)--two professional development programs with the goal of enhancing the work of Extension and staff leadership skills.
2013 Lead21 participants include: Laura Kalambokidis, Extension economist, Cathy Jordan, director, Children, Youth & Family Consortium, and Holli Arp, regional director, southwest. The primary purpose of LEAD21 is to develop leaders in land-grant institutions and their strategic partners who link research, academics, and Extension in order to lead more effectively in an increasingly complex environment, either in their current positions or as they aspire to other positions.
2013 NELD participants include: Amy Baker, chief technology officer, Kia Harries, Extension educator in educational design and development, and Susanne Hinirichs, regional director, northeast. The NELD program goals are to provide the opportunity for current and future Extension leaders and administrators to enhance leadership at all levels and provide vision as well as cutting-edge organizational tools.
