Citing blog posts

Did you know that there is a form for citing blog posts? You may want to use this to list your blog writing on your c.v. for promotion purposes. Or you might want to cite someone's blog post in a paper you are writing. There are two forms for citations: APA and MLA.

Here is the form for MLA:

Lastname, Firstname, "Title of individual blog entry." Weblog entry. Title of Weblog. Publisher, date posted. Date accessed (URL).

So for example:

Walker, Kate. "Reflecting on a century of youth development research and practice." Youth Development Insight. University of Minnesota Extension Center for Youth Development, 11 12 2011. Web. 5 Mar. 2012. (

For APA:

Last name, first initial. (Date). Weblog entry. Retrieved from URL.

Walker, K. (2011, November 11). Reflecting on a century of youth development research and practice [Web log message]. Retrieved from
