Minnesota Finishes Second at the Big Ten Championships

The Minnesota Golden Gopher wrestling team wrapped up the 2012 Big Ten Wrestling Championships this afternoon in West Lafayette, Ind. Minnesota finished second overall in the team standings, reported news sources.

Penn State won the team title for the second consecutive year, reported Gopher Sports.

The Gophers finished with 139 team points, 12 points behind Penn State and 5.5 points ahead of Iowa in third place, reported MN Daily.

Kevin Steinhaus and Tony Nelson each captured individual titles for the Maroon and Gold. Either of them have lost match against a Big Ten opponent and earned First Team Big Ten honors, reported Gopher Sports.

"I know the guys aren't happy with second place," assistant coach Brandon Eggum told MN Daily, "but they realize they're making good gains."
