Winter Break Update 1

Thursday Dec 23
Last night was Tony’s 21st birthday party, and there was quite a bit of drama. I started that day out by waking up slightly early to look over my notes for my last exam of the fall term. I then went to the U of M so I could study for the exam with my friends, and I am confident that I did well on this one.

After the exam was over I called Karen Williams, a family friend, and I met up with her and her family for dinner before I left to go to Arizona. That was a lot of fun, we went to Chili’s in Roseville and one of the employees was a girl I had in my Org Comm class, while one of the male employees was simply checking me out. He appeared to be way too young for me, and on top of that he was not really my type.

When I finished eating dinner I made my way over to Katie and Tony’s apartment to begin the birthday celebrations. We started the night out going to Bennigens in Maplewood, and then went to the Gay 90’s, the night ended back at the apartment. The real story, however is what we did, but what happened in between the places we went.

As we were leaving Bennigens it was this huge headache to figure out who was going to drive. Katie did not want to drive, but was willing. I felt bad that she was going to have to drive there anyway but unfortunately it was out of my control. It is not my fault my first 2 for 1 margarita that I was splitting with someone had a hair in it. And it is not my fault that when they brought me a new one it brought me TWO new ones.

Anyway we finally figured we would take Katie’s car and her sister Molly’s car. On the way to the gas station to pick up some cigarettes we ran into some trouble. I was in Molly’s car with Molly, Tony, and his friend Jenny. Suddenly we came upon something in the road that looked like it would be ok if we drove over it. It was not until we got closer that we saw it was a tire that had somehow gotten left in the middle of the road. This gave us a flat tire. My first instinct was to get the tire out of the road but I settled on my second instinct, working on changing the tire. It’s a good thing I did not go immediately to the tire because there was another car right behind us that also hit the tire. Had I gone to the tire first the other car would have hit me as well.

After a little more drama we were on the road again in Katie’s car and in Tony’s other friend Barb’s car. We go to the club great, except Barb’s car kept making this awful noise. She told us it was her struts and that she just needed to get them replaced.

At the club of course Tony got drunk, and was made fun of by the drag queens. Some people even stoles his clothes for a short while…now who could they have been?

As we were leaving we were walking across mall where two of us got honked at by a bus because they did not look before they crossed the intersection. As I looked back no one informed me of the tree I was about to walk into…my head is still a little sore.

On the way home once the people in Katie’s car hit the 35W going north we got a call from the other car. “Hey we have a flat.” (As if they were contagious) So we turn around and get back on 35W. As we are crossing the bridge we saw something really odd, and it took it a second to register in our heads what was going on. It’s a good thing we had a 100% sober driver that night or we may not have been able to avoid that car that was heading directly at us. There were actually two cars headed down the wrong way that night. I am thinking the first one was drunk and the second was simply following.

We ended up waiting at Bobby and Steves for some time until we were finally able to head back to the apartment and go to sleep.
