Winter Break Update Part 3

Saturday Dec 25th

I opened presents from my Mom today!! Here is the list of what she gave me!
1. A new set of socks
2. Two new shirts!
- one was red, which I already have a red layer shirt
- one was a botton down shirt that reminded me too much of Christmas or cotton candy.
- I was honest about this shirt and it felt good to not have to keep something I did not like because my Mom bought it for me.
3. Two new Shirts!
- one was blue
- and one was a button down shirt with blue and red and some other colors in it. I loved this outfit.
4. A new watch!
- This is a totally awesome looking watch!
5. My ticket to AZ to visit her!
- who could have asked for a better gift.
6. A pair of Goofy slippers
- I had a pair when I was little
- I got another pair sometime later in life
- Now I have this new pair.
- My Mom’s reasoning behind this was that I have had Goffy slippers before when I was a little boy. This added with the way she introduced me to her co-workers kind of ticked me off. Mom I love you and, yes I will always be your little boy, but I am not your little boy. I am a grown up now. I am 21 years old. Why would you think that was good logic to get me a pair of slippers I had when I was a child. Unfortunatly this is a gift I would not feel comfortable telling her I do not like.
- The plus side is that I can always find a use for the slippers!! It is not like I wont wear them. I do love Goofy and I really do like the slippers but I feel as if it is time I got something more adult.

Today we drove from Pheonix, AZ to Anaheim, California to spend Christmas with my Mom’s brother Jim, and his family. I love to visit this family there are usually always fun to be around and they never make me feel uncomfortable.

When we got here we started to watch the movie Dodge Ball, which I have never seen. It is really very funny. Perhaps one that I would like to own someday. After that we ate our dinner. My uncle made A really nice Turkey dinner. We also served the Hungarian Coffee Cake that my Grandma sent me out here with. I always forget that my cousins that live in California do not think that the Coffee Cake is the best thing they have ever eaten. I think it may be simply because they are living in California…I mean everyone in MN LOVES Grandmas coffee cake.

When dinner was finsished we opened presents. I was totally not expecting my Uncle to give me a present, and I believe my Mother was also not expecting this seeing as how we did not come out here with gifts for them. I was so excited when I opened mine, it was not something I would go out and buy on my own, but something I was contemplating the purchase of. My Uncle bought me the season one and season two DVD on Sienfield! I was so excited; we started watching it after everyone was finished with their gift opening.

The rest of the evening was spent playing games until we all decided it was time to get some sleep seeing as how we had big plans for the next day.

I woke in the morning to my Uncle walking the halls giving everyone their wake up call. Our plans for the day were to go to the swap meet to get discounted brand name goods. I needed a new pair of sunglasses and everyone else went there not really knowing what they wanted or needed.

I found a really great pair of sunglassed that are supposed to be DG, but because we bought them at the swap meet we figured they needed to be given a new name…DOOCHI and GALBANEAH! My mother bought some Tupper Vare for her salad dressing while she was at work, and my cousin bought a movie she was hoping to get for Christmas. Orginially she thought her Dad was giving it to her for Christmas, but he threw her a loop, by giving her something else…something she had never heard of. You see she was expecting “Napoleon Dynamite,” but instead she was given the movie “Stir Of Echos” Again because this movie was purchased at the swap meet we decided to give it a new name… “Napa O’ Leon Dynamittee.”

After the Swap Meet we went to the Newport Beach area to see my cousin Tim’s apartment. Damn he is a lucky guy. He is paying under 600 dollars to live almost on top of the beach. I am incredibly jealous. After the grand tour was given we went to a pizza joint for lunch and then a walk on one of the piers. When we arrived back in Anahiem Hills we watched Napa O’ Leon Dynamittee and then got ready for dinner at my Aunt Mary’s house.

Dinner at Mary’s was a lot of fun, and indcredibly good. We had ham and hole bunch of other goodies. One of the nicest parts of thie dinner was being able to see my Aunt Mary, and my cousin Gary. Thus far while I was in Cali I had not gotten the chance to see them, or I simply did not have the time to converse because they were off to work.

After dinner Gary and I decided we should play naughty scrabble; we played two rounds and the second was by far the best. I really enjoy hanging out with Gary, and I wish I could do it more often. Now I am sitting on Tim’s old bed at my uncle Jim’s place about to get ready for bed. Tomorrow my Mother and I are driving back to Arizona where we will spend a few days by ourselves, and then joined by my sister. On the 31st my Christmas vacation is over when my sister and I fly back into Minneapolis. After that it will be work work work, until the new semester at school begins, but don’t worry I will keep you updated on all the exciting happenings in my life.
