There's Something About Howie Day

Last Friday night I went to the Hennepin Ave Block Party with Katie, Tony and Jenny. We went because Howie Day was playing. The block party was a good time, however it was way too hot out to be standing in a crowd of people waiting to see Howie Day.

As it got closer and closer to being time for Howie Day the people standing around us got closer and closer, and then they started pushing, trying to get closer so they could see Howie Day...

By the time Howie was one stage and playing Katie and I had beer spilt on us by an asshole who did not even apologize for it, almost been knocked over three times, and generally pissed off by people's lack of manners...All the people who bumoed into us, pushed us, spilt on us, whatever...Only a few people said sorry or excuse me.

Howie played a great show that night, I hope someone was recording it and it will be available on Archives because it was really good. I have made entries before talking about how everyone likes to yell "Bunnies" at Howie's shows, in the hope that he will play Bunnies. Howie never plays Bunnies, I think I may have hear it once, but that was it. This time was different...People stopped yelling, "Bunnies"! This time they were yelling for "She Says." I really wish people would just let him play whatever he wants to play.

Also there is something about Howie Day that is really interesting. That is the number of heterosexual men who love his music, love Howie, and aren't afraid to yell it out in the middle of a concert. When I say these "straight" boys love Howie, I mean they LOVE him...Is there something about Howie that brings out the gay in every straight man, and if so, how do I harness this power?
