A Little Upset

Wow I had no clue that when Uthink Blogs updated to a newer moveable type that I would loose the layout of my weblog....Now I am a little upset.

Uncertainty

Wow has school been stressful lately.

I managed to finish a very rough draft of my senior paper on time, and am going to pick it up shortly so I can make revisions and finish that sucker once and for all. Classes are going ok, but at this point I simply can't bring myself to care about some of them.

It looks as though I will get the opportunity to take some of my finals early so that the only final I will have to worry about during actual finals week will be my PR final...Blaaahh. Do you know what that means??? That means if I really want to I can go out and get drunk on both Wednesday and Thursday night!!! (Wed Dec 14, Thur Dec 15)

This semester, and my college experience will come to an end in basically two weeks. This idea is both exciting and terrifying at the same time. Exciting because it is the end of a very long chapter of my life, and I can't wait to see what life has to offer me.

It is terrifying for two reasons the first regarding my job situation; Will I get a job? What will I be doing with my life? How much money will I be making? Will I be happy in my career? The other and much more terrifying is the impending move to California. I have now decided that, while I am sure I will not like the LA area, I should try it out for a little while before settling in San Francisco...Who knows what could happen in LA, maybe I will become famous for something. The terrifying part about this is that I will be moving away from everything I know; most of my family, the city I grew up in, and most importantly the amazingly great friends I have made along the way. For me this is the biggest change of my life and it scares me like nothing else.

My Chips are Doritos D.O.R.I.T.O.S!!

Last night I went out with Katie, Tony, Jenny, and Angel to the Gwen Stefani concert! It was a really good time. The Black Eyed Peas opened for Gwen, and they did kind of suck, but once Gwen hit the stage everything was forgiven.

During the concert I sat next to Angel who I do like a lot however, I would have rather sat next to Katie and Tony because they were actually dancing and singing the whole concert; Angel just sat there and listened to the music. I kept trying my hardest to get her to participate somehow because concerts just are not fun unless you participate, but she would not really have any of it.

After the show we all were pretty hungry so we went to Jimmy's for some drinks and food...it was good.

Gophers Underage Drinking???? GET OUT!!!

Recently Minneapolis's Fox 9 news ran with a story about the Gopher Men's Hockey team and their after game activities in a local pub in dinkytown. Apparently a few of the team members were going to this pub and drinking while underage. Fox 9 caught them using hidden cameras.

The Fox 9 news channel ran with this story breaking it into three nights. Sunday night they revealed the story and tried to talk to some of the Hockey players. On Monday night they talked to the owner of the bar that was serving them, and yesterday they talked about what the University of Minnesota was doing about the scandal.

The viewers of this broadcast have had mixed reactions to the story. Some people applaud fox 9 news and some are appalled by Fox 9, saying that they are making too big of a deal about this issue.

Here are my feelings on the story. Fox 9 is making a big deal out of the team members drinking when they should be reporting more on the fact the bar served the underage players alcoholic beverages.

I know for a fact the underage players caught on the Men's Hockey team are not the only underage people who have been able to drink in this establishment.

It is true that these athletes violated a contract they signed with the University of Minnesota Athletic Department, however I think it would be fair to say that the majority of athletes here at the U of M are in violation of this contract...The difference is that these other athletes are most likely smart enough to know that they are much less likely to get caught drinking if they do it in the privacy of their own homes.

Changes at Bonfire

Yesterday was my first day back to work since we closed for "remodeling." I put "remodeling" in quotes because while we did remodel while we were closed, that is not the real reason we closed.

You see when a restaurant fails so many police stings they get not only have to pay a fine, but they loose their liquor license for a certain amount of time as well. The restaurant I work at failed three of these stings in one year. The restaurant took it to a city appeal and eventually to a state appeal before setting on a fine and suspension of liquor sales for one week.

I know what your thinking, we could have stayed open and just served food right? Well that is true we could have, but the majority of our incoming money comes from alcohol sales, so if we were to have stayed open the restaurant would barley be making enough money to keep the lights on, let alone pay its' employees.

So there are some new changes to Bonfire in Eagan. We painted the exterior of the building a dark red color like all the other Bonfires. We also painted the inside walls a lightish yellow color. If I would have been able to put in my two cents I would have made two of the interior walls red and the other two yellow, but all the walls are yellow. We also refinished our bar so it looks like a new rail, updated our pizza oven, knocked a wall out, and replaced the kitchen floors. (The last two are in the kitchen though, so you would not be able to see those changes)

Yesterday was also the first day that I had to wear the new uniform. The new uniform is not bad, I liked the way the olders one looked more, but these are not bad. I will say though that I wish I would have had a better idea about how the shirts we are now wearing were going to fit. Had I known I would have started to work out because I feel a little pudgy in the new shirts.

In addition to the new look and the new uniforms, we now offer new forms of entertainment and new happy hour stuff!! The new happy hour is actually pretty sweet if you like drinking in the afternoon. From 3:00-4:00 you get $2 off drinks. From 4:00-5:00 you get $1.50 off, and from 5:00-6:00 you get $1 off all drinks. The new happy hour also includes a great list of new happy hour appetizers, which are just that appetizers!!! Unlike some of our other iteams we offer for appetizers, these are not a small meal.

The new entertainment features NTN trivia, which I played last night after work. With the new trivia boxes you can either play a Trivia game oir you can play No Limits Texas Holdem. Some of the boys I work with and myself sat down for beers and holdem after work and I smoked em all!!! I was the untouchable chip leader for what can only be described as the entire game. I started the game with $2,000 and ended it with a new Bonfire record $104,300! Too bad it was not real money, I could quit Bonfire and concentrate on finsihing my degree, pay of my students loan, pay off my car, and still have money left for shopping!!

Not So Juicy

Apprently there are some problems in the relationship between my Dad and Nancee. In my opinion the biggest problem is that she is married!! But I guess there is more because when I came home from a school meeting on Sunday I noticed that the ironing board was back downstairs in the basement.

I knew then and there that something was up because Nancee moved that upstairs into one of the extra bedrooms in the house when she moved in. She also had taken her really super nice steam iron and put it someplace. So I aksed Dad what was going on. Apprently Nancee is moving out of our house and back into the house she shares with her husband. Oh yeah that is really fair, although it is not as if she doesn't still sleep there because there are nights when she doesn't come home to our house. I really wish she would stop jerking my father around.

Anyway in an attempt to prepare myself for my photoshoot today I went into the basement to iron three of my shirts. I am not sure I mentioned the photo shoot yet, but I am having some headshots taken this evening at 6:00.

I thought that since my picture had not already been taken in the three shirts I bought at Marshal Fields a few months back that I would wear those. They are a Penguin shirt, (yes that is a designer) Ben Shirman, and my Juciy Couture shirt. When I went to iron the Ben Shirman I notcied that it really did not need to be ironed, so I went to iron the Juicy shirt.

As soon as the iron touched the Juicy shirt it kind of stuck to the shirt producing three small holes in it!!!!! I AM SO FUCKING PISSED RIGHT NOW!!!!! THAT SHIRT WAS A LOT OF MONEY AND NOW IT HAS THREE FREAKING HOLES IN IT!!!! NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF NANCEE WOULD HAVE LEFT HER FREAKING IRON!!!
