The Daggett Brook 4-H Club held their monthly meeting on May 10th, 2010 at the Daggett Brook Townhall. The club met at 5:30 and cleaned the adopt-the-highway before the meeting and pizza was served afterwards for everybody that helped.

Elizabeth Studinski gave a talk on her animals she has. Madeline Hinrichs demonstrated how to make fun dough and Emilia Hinrichs demonstrated how to make butter.

Denise Reeser led the Cloverbud activity and they planted a sunflower seed in a cup.

Reports were given on the Highway clean-up and the PDC's. Animal ID's are due to the extension office on May 17th.

The next federation meeting is May 24th. The club moved to have a club tour on July 18th. We will discuss more at the next meeting.

The Federation Rummage Sale is June 12th and 13th at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds. They are having a bake and plant sale at the same time. Each club is to donate items, baked goods and plants and also help out before, during and after the sale. The milk drinking contest will be held before the next meeting. Chelsey Hettver the Crow Wing County Dairy Princess will be the special guest.

The time will change for the summer meetings to 7:30p.m. instead of 7:00p.m.

Black Bear Club Meeting

The Black Bear 4-H club met at the LaMere residence May 6th. The club had been looking for ways to show our support to the family and Mandi said she needed help cleaning her mom's flower gardens. Vicki loved spending time in her gardens and often helped at the club's Heritage Garden in Nisswa so this was a perfect way for the club to give back.

Seven youth and seven adults raked leaves, removed dead foliage, and transplanted perennials in the garden. Shrubs were trimmed and many loads of leaves and debris were hauled.

The club furnished hot dogs and we had a great time socializing. This was a project that made us all feel good! We got to help Mandi and her dad and learned more gardening skills.

Great Green Gardeners Built Raised Bed Frames

On May 1st, the GGGs met at the CWC fair grounds to build and fill their raised bed garden box frames. They will begin planting on May 15th.

It was a cold and wet and windy morning but our gardeners are real troopers. Everybody and their parents worked hard and played hard. It was a fun day! We decided to hold regular monthly meetings throughout the summer. We will meet at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the 4-H building, weather permitting. If storms are brewing, we will meet at the Land Services Building. We will charter our club and elect officers.

A huge "thank you" goes out to all parents who supported us with tools and supplies and muscle! Many parents have offered to help with fund raising and club organization. What a fabulous group we have!
