Notice the pure excitement of the kids when they are around Koda. Koda is a domesticated wolf that came to visit the Emily Mighty Minnows at their May 22 meeting.
Koda goes to Camp Knuteson over in Crosslake and visits with the kids there...so this was not his first child encounter. When Koda first came into the room his back leg was shaking he was pretty scared but once he got used to the environment he was a snuggle bug!
If you ever want Gary and Koda for another group I'm pretty sure Gary would LOVE to
make an appearance. Here is his information just in case: Gary Hanson 218-763-3360

On Saturday May 12th , 30 people from both the SS/W project and the Hot Shot Club attended an all day event in Palisade at the Mountain Men Fort. We started with a team survival challenge called "Bushcraft" lead by David Schroeder.
Our cloverbuds decorated and attempted filling bug boxes lead by Aimee Burley. Carrie Guida taught us about knots and buttermaking. Anna Guida made hemp bracelets. Abby Flemming did a demonstration on rabbits and shared her three rabbits with the group.
Our youth had instruction in archery, air rifle, .22, shotgun, black powder and tomahawk throwing. More than a few fishing lines were wet Saturday as well in the Willow River.
A special thanks to instructors - Jason Burley, Roger Schroeder, Wendy Brown and Mountain Man Harold LeBlanc. This day was a complete success thanks to youth, parents and 4-H leaders all working together. A huge thank you to all.

The Emily Mighty Minnows had 9 members who attended Rock N Mineral Show in Aitkin . The kids had an incredible time and said they want to come back again next year. They actually learn a lot there. They also made contact with a person from Outing who would be willing to have our group go to his house and see all his rock setups! How cool!
