Day: 3

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Today is technically day 3 but since today I decided to focus on drumming as my daily discipline it's really day 1 for that. My daily discipline is going to be drumming, more specificlly learning somthing new each day, whether it be learning a new beat, trick, technique whatever.

Today both the bands I am in had practice, Red Line Highway had practice first. We have a big gig this summer so we're trying to get ahead of the game by learning a song or two each practice. Today was Play That Funky Music and My Sharona, needless to say they were both sloppy. In my other band, BoomTang, basically we just jammed for a half hour, but it was fun and we came up with some good stuff. All in all it was a good day for drumming.

Ch. 4: Elements of Layout

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

This chapter talked about different elements of layout. A lot of this reading was a review of stuff I already knew, but things like indentation and juxtaposition were new elements to me. The section on indentation showed different styles that can or have been used which may useful for the project and other projects to come. For juxtaposition, it presented a simpler way of thinking of the connection between pieces and showed it can be used with multiple images.

Readings Ch. 2&3

This reading goes into depths of styles of layouts and reasoning for layouts that I have not thought of yet and am sure others also haven't taken into there deign process. It looks at how important of a step it is to choose a correct layout for our design process. While we all know the effects our layout will have, I have noticed there is little thought as to why exactly we chose a layout, at least on my part. After reading this however, I think that I will take into more consideration the purpose of the layout I chose.

The second reading seems to consider these elements of the grid and spacing more than the first. This reading does a good job explaining why we choose which layout. It also implies a few applications or setting these different grids and ways of organization can be used. As of this point I think I'm am going to use a single column of text and image.
