Dear all,
Hi. Here is a .zip file containing the reading for this week, the assignment sheet, and a Max patch that takes the "transport" section of Max tutorial #19 and lays it out in a more generous and, I hope, easy-to-follow manner.

go here to download this free virtual midi controller with knobs and sliders and whatnot...
FYI the knobs are controllers #1-8 and the sliders start on #81-89. There is NO documentation with this thing so it took me a while to find out where to assign the sliders (that was before I found out about the handy little midi-tester in class today).
It presents most of the same problems that trying to control stuff without some sort of hardware does, but at least you can check to see if you're writing your patches correctly.
To that end check out these cute hardware midi controllers that Korg makes that are actually quite affordable and look like they are easily transportable as well:

Dear all,
Here are the patches from today's class. We'll go over some of these Max objects again as we continue, but I thought that seeing these might help you make your instrument for Thursday.
You may use groove~, but note that the assignment asks for synthesized sound, so you'll need that too if you do.
If you want to explore groove~, check out the patch I documented:groove_basic.maxpat.
Best wishes,
Doug
