On Tuesday, April 4, 2012, GISSO's 11th Annual GIS Career and Networking Fair held its first ever poster contest, sponsored by U-Spatial. Voting was extremely close.

Poster Contest Results:
1st Place: Peder Engstrom, "Identifying opportunities to reduce excess nitrogen in croplands while maintaining current yields"
2nd Place: Kris Johnson, "Twin Cities Population Density: through the lens of dasymetric mapping"
3rd Place: Jacqueline Brost, "Cartography in GIS: Lost in Translation"

Congratulations to Peder, Kris, and Jacqueline for the recognition their posters received from fair attendees, and thank you to all entrants for helping start a new tradition for GISSO career fairs. A special thanks to U-Spatial for sponsoring the event.

Thank you to Alphonce for helping organize our trip to Buffalo Community Middle School, where we helped teach over 100 8th grade students about the possibilities of GIS, including ArcGIS Online and geogreeting.com.
