A 16-year old boy faces murder charges after he allegedly assisted in the fatal beating of a man in November, the Star Tribune reported Thursday.
Minneapolis-native Jacquin Malik Boyd was charged in juvenile court, but prosecutors want him to be tried at as an adult, because he is at least 16.
Boyd is charged in connection with the death of 41-year-old Kerry Duane Scott of Hopkins. Boyd and a couple accomplices allegedly took turns beating Scott in a house near the 3300 block of Girard Avenue N., before beating him to death behind the house.
According to the report, witnesses saw the attackers jumping on Scott "like a trampoline." One of the alleged assailants allegedly yelled "I'm a killer."
Boyd was arrested Tuesday and initially denied involvement with Scott's death. He later admitted he punched Scott after Scott was accused of stealing something. Boyd said Scott fought back.
