Besse Cooper of Monroe Ga., died Tuesday at 116. She was the world's oldest person, and according to CNN, only one of eight people listed to have ever lived that long.
Her 77-year old son Sidney said she had her hair done by a stylist at the assisted-living residence where she had lived for 11 years. She died peacefully afterwards.
The Associated Press reported that Besse Cooper had been dealing with a stomach virus in the days leading up to her death. She reportedly felt better, but had breathing complications right before her passing.
Now, the world's oldest person is 115-year-old Dina Manfredini of Johnston, Iowa.
